Q: What transactions can I perform through M&T Securities, Inc. Brokerage Services?

You can purchase or sell listed, unlisted or over-the-counter common and preferred stocks and options, at discounted commission rates. You can also purchase and sell corporate bonds, Unit Investment Trusts (“UIT”) and U.S. Treasury securities, as well as mutual funds (load and no load funds). Commission discounts apply only to stock and option transactions.

Q: What types of orders can I place?

You can place the same types of stock and option orders you would through a full-service broker: market orders, limit orders, stop orders, stop limit orders, day orders, good -‘til- canceled orders, and others.

Q: How do I place an order?

M&T Securities Brokerage Services now provides you with three convenient methods to conduct your transactions: via a Live Broker, Touch-Tone Trading, or M&T Web Trading.

Q: How do I settle my transactions?

M&T Securities, Inc. has an advantage over many other brokerage firms because it provides flexibility and ease of payment. Settlement of your investment transactions may be handled directly through your M&T Bank deposit account or one of several MTB Money Market Funds.

Q: What happens to my funds between transactions?

M&T Securities, Inc. can offer you an important advantage. You can have your transactions settle to your M&T Bank deposit account or an MTB money market mutual fund account until you're ready to reinvest the proceeds.

Q: Am I able to place after-hours trades?

M&T Securities, Inc. Brokerage Services does not offer the ability to process trades during extended hours trading. However, you can submit your orders 24 hours a day through a Web Trading account. Orders will be executed during the market hours (9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST) the same day if placed when the markets are open. Otherwise, the order will be executed the next trading day. You must have sufficient funds or have buying power from marginable securities at the time of settlement. Securities must be in your account on trade date for sell transactions.

Q: Can I participate in Initial Public Offering (“IPO”)?

M&T Securities, Inc. does not directly participate in the underwriting of a company's Initial Public Offering and does not have access to purchasing shares before they become publicly traded in the secondary market. Be aware that the price a stock is initially offered at and the price trading will begin at can be vastly different. Please consult an M&T Securities, Inc. Brokerage Services representative for additional information on this subject before committing to any purchases pursuant to an IPO.

Q: Can I trade options?

If you are an experienced investor you may be eligible to trade options*, subject to an additional application and some background information.

Q: Will I receive a statement?

Yes. A detailed statement will be mailed to you every month in which there is activity in your account. (If there is no activity, statements will be mailed quarterly.) The statement includes a summary of outstanding orders, account activity, positions in your account and their market value as of the end of the statement period.

Q: Can I set up a margin account?

Q: Can I obtain current market information?

Yes. We can provide you with the latest market information including: quotes, volume traded, dividend and yield, earnings and price/earnings ratios when you call an M&T Securities, Inc. Brokerage Services representative at (800) 724-7788. In addition, our Web Trading and Touch Tone Trading, services can provide you with market information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Q: How can I keep up with the status of my account?

The most convenient way to keep track of your account status is to sign up for M&T Web Trading. M&T Web Trading allows you to have 24-hour access to your account positions. In addition, by calling M&T Securities, Inc. Brokerage Services or Touch-Tone Trading you can receive current information, as well as a complete 90-day history of your account. Q: What about my certificates?

For both safety and convenience, we recommend that you utilize safekeeping in your M&T Securities account to facilitate settlement when you sell your securities. Currently, there is no charge for this service; however, we reserve the right to change this without prior notice.**  If you do hold the physical certificate, the certificate can be delivered to an M&T Securities, Inc. representative at any M&T Bank office, or sent via registered mail for deposit into your M&T Securities, Inc. Account. Simply mail your certificate to: M&T Securities, Inc., P.O. Box 1357, Buffalo, NY, 14240.

Q: Is dividend reinvestment available?

Yes. Dividend reinvestment is available for mutual funds and certain individual equities upon request. Restrictions may apply.

Yes. Most mutual funds allow for periodic investments on an automated basis. Minimums may apply.

Q: How do I open an account?

First obtain an M&T Securities, Inc. Brokerage Account application by contacting either an M&T Securities, Inc. Representative at your local branch, or Brokerage Services at (800) 724-7788. Complete the application and return it to an M&T Securities, Inc. Financial Consultant at any M&T Bank office, or mail the application to M&T Securities, Inc., P.O. Box 1357, Buffalo, NY 14240.
