Sales Development Program
Position: Sales Development Trainee

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Sales Development Program is designed to train and develop sales professionals in the relationship process in M&T Bank’s Retail Division. At the conclusion of the program, successful trainees will become Branch Sales Associates in a retail branch in the M&T network.
The six-month training program is a combination of structured classroom sessions as well as on the job skill development
Much of the training will take place in the region where you were hired
Participants will rotate through all phases of the branch team from teller to platform sales to consumer lending
The training program will begin each year in June
The training sites will be Syracuse, NY for all New York State trainees; Williamsport, PA for all Northern Pennsylvania state trainees; Harrisburg, PA for all Southern Pennsylvania and Philadelphia trainees; and Baltimore, MD for Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and DC trainees
At the conclusion of the program, trainees will work within their specified regions
 
SDP participants will follow a licensing path to be trained and certified in securities licensing of Life/Accident/Health as well as FINRA Series 6 and 63. Once training is complete, employees may have the opportunity for a variety of physical locations throughout the footprint of the organization based on desire, performance, and opportunity. They will also have the opportunity to begin managing a portfolio of customers and be responsible for the entire relationship.

Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required, but all majors are accepted for consideration
Possess a passion for sales and customer service
Demonstrated communication ability that includes an ability to present ideas in front of a group as well as individually
An ability to balance priorities and exhibit organizational skills to manage both individual and multiple team priorities
Must possess a willingness and desire to work and live in one of our market areas and local communities
Periodic travel required

Ideal Qualifications:
One to three years of direct retail sales experience
Previous experience in a customer service environment for a minimum of one year
Prior experience in banking or financial services

Pennsylvania, including Allentown, Altoona, Bloomsburg, Chambersburg, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pottsville, Reading, State College, Wilkes-Barre, Williamsport

District of Columbia
